Student Celebration Day
Student Celebration Day is a unique, festive event with a mission to promote higher education and community unity that grants students from North and South Omaha, the opportunity to come together and celebrate education, empowerment, unity, and mutual support. The annual Student Celebration Day is a fun-filled day of education, free food, raffle prizes, and entertainment!
Omaha Teen Summit
Omaha Teen Summit is a day dedicated to allowing metro Omaha teens to come together to learn, network, and solve problems plaguing them . . . for free! It includes a t-shirt, lunch giveaways, and a chance for seniors to win scholarships. We invite community leaders and educators to speak on different topics and organizational partners to pass our information and share resources.
Annual $1,000 Scholarship
We established and furn The Deputy Chief Monroe Coleman Scholarship in honor of the first black deputy chief of police in the history of the Omaha Police Department and to keep his enthusiasms for academic achievement alive. This scholarship is awarded to UNO and Metro Community College undergraduate students who are pursuing a major in Criminology and Criminal Justice and career in law enforcement.
P.A.C.E
The BPOA is proud to be active in the P.A.C.E. (Police Athletics for Community Engagement) program, started in 2005. The program is dedicated to preventing "at risk," inner-city kids from becoming involved in gangs, crime and drug use. It provides an opportunity to develop discipline, self-esteem and positive moral values through wholesome competition in soccer, baseball and volleyball.
Easter Egg Hunt
The BPOA Easter Egg Hunt is an opportunity for North Omaha youth participate in a festive community event with the Omaha Police Officers and members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Several thousand eggs are hidden throughout the park, and participants enjoy free food, raffle prizes, bounce houses and other fun activities.
Other Programs
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season we are proud to deliver meals to families in need and present children with gifts on their wish lists. In addition, we are a community partner of the annual Christmas in the Village celebration at 24th and Lake that attracts over 3,000 participants to the heart of North Omaha and seeks to revitalize the arts, culture, and entertainment districts and connect North Omaha's rich history to a thriving and sustainable future.
